Detected only one problem: Could not manage to create the user appropriately and ended up using mysql root user to make it work...

I've tested the database scripts again and tried to reproduce the problem, but everything went OK. Maybe you didn't have required privileges when executing the script (for creating user, database, etc.)? The best way is to execute the scripts logged in as MySQL root user, that way you should have sufficient privileges for everything. Please let me know if the problem is still there.
(but if you've used the command prompt approach exactly as it is written in the cookbook, then the scripts were executed as root)
Have you checked if DB user sensei_rd2 maybe already exists, from before?

Tried the script from command line and then it worked (I previously imported it in phpMyAdmin and that could have caused my problem).
